|  Applications Being Accepted for Vacancy on Mohave County Superior Court Applications are being accepted for a vacancy on the Mohave County Superior Court created by the retirement of the Honorable James E. Chavez, effective March 31, 2009. Presiding Superior Court Judge Randolph A. Bartlett has appointed an eleven member committee charged with the responsibility of screening applications, interviewing selected applicants and recommending up to the top three nominees to Governor Jan Brewer, who will appoint the new judge. Applicants must be at least 30 years old, of good moral character, admitted to practice law in and a resident of Arizona for the past five years, and a resident of Mohave County for the past year. Additionally, because the Governor is required to appoint a person of the same political party as the person vacating the office, applicants for this vacancy must be a registered Republican. Applications can be obtained from the Mohave County Superior Court website: www.mohavecourts.com, by calling Superior Court Administration at (928) 753-0790 extension 4391; The original completed application and 11 double-sided copies must be returned to the Superior Court Administrator’s Office, 401 E. Spring Street, P.O. Box 7000, Kingman, Arizona, 86402, by 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2009. After the closing date has passed, the Superior Court will announce the names of all applicants and will provide an opportunity to the public to submit written comments to the Superior Court on issues relevant to the vacant judgeship or on a particular applicant.
